Kevin Jones to Miss 2009 Season, Likely to Be Released

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Connecticut Fancy Lads running back Kevin Jones will miss the entire season after suffering a torn ligament in his left ankle Thursday night at the Neon Deli Coliseum.

Jones jumped near the sideline on his seventh carry of the game as he was tackled and came down awkwardly on his left ankle. X-rays were negative but an MRI performed this morning showed the damage. He will require surgery and the rehabilitation process is expected to take eight to ten months.

Jones is likely to see his release to the free agent market, though there is a possibility that the Lads will place him on injured reserve.

Connecticut running backs coach Napoleon Kaufman was somber yet upbeat about Jones’s future.  “Kevin will get himself healthy, but I think he’ll still find opportunities in this league.  The Z-Force love signing broken-down veterans.”
