Fancy Lad Kevin Jones Carted Off Field Thursday With Ankle Injury

By  Last updated: 27th April 2011

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Peter Bronx, of the National Fantasy Football Post, reported Thursday evening via his Twitter account that Connecticut Fancy Lads running back Kevin Jones (ankle) was taken from the sideline to the locker room on a cart after injuring his ankle on an out-of-bounds tackle by Charleston Challenger linebacker Keith Ellison.  Ellison received a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty and a $500 bonus from Charleston coach Chris Bransfield for the vicious hit.  There is no indication as of yet as to the extent of the injury, but Connecticut assistant coach Joe Samolis offered assurances in a post-game interview that Jones would probably miss little time.  “They’ll jack that bitch up on cortisone, you know what I’m saying?,” said Samolis.

Jones has been struggling to make progress up a crowded Fancy Lads depth chart, where he ranks about seventh out of eight running backs choices.  He is in his second tour of duty with the Middletown franchise, as he also played for the team from 2004-05.
